Child of a prominent and affluent family,
successful TV producer and White House aide,
mother of two sons from her marriage to a
handsome artist – Mary Fisher seemed to lead

collection of speeches and photographs,
presents her strategy for dealing with the
AIDS pandemic: tolerance, research, caring,
and a nonjudgmental response to AIDS and its
causes.
In the years since the landmark speech, she
has made many others, continuing to speak
out. "I'm no less a mother now than I was a
year or two ago, but I'm more a veteran of
the AIDS war," she writes in the book's
opening. "I've seen the brutal stigma, the
terror, the anger, the fear. I've tasted the
dying. Like veterans of other wars, I've
stood amid the carnage and counted the
casualties…
